It is a given that du’a (supplication) is among the essential elements of Islam. Islam is based on the concept of each person being in direct contact with Allah, and supplication is how we can communicate with Allah.
That said, a few things were taught to us by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Qur’an and revealed in the Qur’an. Allah, through the Qur’an, suggests how to enhance our supplications.
Also, these are elements that could alter Allah’s reaction to our prayer. Let’s take a look at three easy and practical ways to improve the quality of our prayers:
Many Muslims make a gesture and list what they’d like to receive from Allah in supplication. But knowing the proper way to begin a prayer is essential.
The desirable way to begin is by thanking Allah throughout and thanking Allah for a few specific aspects. In this case, we could start my prayer by reciting Surah Fatiha because that is a du’a’ where we adore Allah and begin by repeating Ayatul Kursi.
Then, we’ll praise Allah for a few specific blessings that he has given me today, for instance, the comfort of a place to pray from or the meal we’ve just consumed.
The following action to take is to convey our gratitude to all prophets, starting with Adam (AS) to Prophet Adam (AS) through Muhammad (PBUH). Muhammad (PBUH).
The most important thing is to be grateful for what we have, and the direction Allah has provided us before seeking anything else. For all we know, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that gratitude is a significant component of faith.
Imagine it in this manner. Suppose a child would like to request their parents to give them a slice of cake as dessert. In that case, there’s an opportunity that the parent will not say “no. If, however, the child first thanked the parent for the tasty meal they had and then requested cakes, the likelihood of parents responding “yes” has increased.
We must pray to Allah in the same manner. First, we should show gratitude for the blessings He has bestowed on us before soliciting more.
Therefore, It is essential to begin each supplication by praising Allah and then send praises and prayers for the Prophets.
It is essential to keep the right mindset when we consider Allah. Be aware that Allah does not have neutrality regarding our actions. He is in our corner and searching for an opportunity to be a blessing to us, not a reason to punish us.
If we seek His help, it should be with complete confidence that He will be able to accept our request.
The above quote is the first line of a lengthy hadith. However, the sentence itself is an immense amount of knowledge.
It demonstrates that we can get what we want from Allah. We must maintain an optimistic and humble view of Allah. Remember that most of Allah’s names/attributes refer to His compassion, love, and kindness towards humanity, while only a few of His names/attributes refer to His anger.
This proves that Allah’s mercy is greater than His anger. Allah is a kind Lord who desires only the excellent for us; our attitude towards Him should reflect that.
It’s not a sign that we are becoming self-centered or smug. It is more that we maintain high expectations that Allah will never fail to listen and always take care of the perfect in our favor.
If we hold the hope of knowing that Allah is always there for us, that’s what we’ll get. If, however, we have negative feelings towards Allah and believe that He won’t be able to answer our prayers or prayers, then this is what we’ll receive.
Our prayers should be directed at more than ourselves. It is important to think about our neighbors, family members, friends, and the community at large.
The second hadith shows that the fastest du’a’ that is given is the data we give to a person absent from them.
In a metaphorical sense, this kind of prayer can be a way for people to bypass the lines and move to the front of the line! This data type is a sign of selfless love; such acts are the most precious to Allah.
Thus, if we make a supplication to someone else and pray for them, we not only receive angels who make the same supplication on our behalf, but we also benefit from having the prayer receive a swift response from Allah.
Thus, we get what is desirable from both sides!
